Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgery


Tim Clough is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in foot, ankle and knee disorders. 

His areas of expertise are arthroscopic surgery of the ankle and knee, ankle joint replacement, surgical management of the rheumatoid foot, bunion and lesser toe surgery, and sports injuries to the foot and ankle.  He has a special interest in foot and ankle trauma.

His NHS base is at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust where he sees both GP referrals and complex referrals from other surgeons.  He consults privately at the Alexandra Hospital, Highfield Hospital in Rochdale and Wrightington Hospital.

He was awarded the Sanofi Synthelabo Travelling Fellowship in 2002 allowing him 6 months sub specialist training in Canada on the latest and pioneering techniques of arthroscopic surgery.  He also won the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Fellowship in 2004, receiving training on the latest techniques in ankle joint replacement surgery.

He is a Foot, Ankle and Trauma surgeon to Premiership. League football clubs and other professional sports organisations.

Tim is a keen teacher, has lectured throughout the UK and overseas, and is a Faculty member of a course for orthopaedic surgeons in training.
